Did you know that wooden locks and keys were in use as early as 4,000 years ago in Egypt? In the United States, keys have been seen as a symbol of power since colonial times. If keys are considered a symbol of power, then I must be VERY powerful! I have keys for everything – and unfortunately, this often meant that I forgot what certain keys were for.
I solved that problem by getting keys with special pictures on them. The key with Mickey Mouse on it is a spare key to mom’s house in Florida, my house key has Marilyn Monroe on it, my husband’s house key has the NY Yankees logo….you get the picture. The best part about keeping my keys organized in this manner is selecting the character or symbol that reminds me most of the item I am keeping under lock and key!
